Hatch On Dates: Oct-nov? Dont Forget About This Post!!!

i need to check my marans later today..

so far my porous eggs are doing pretty good.. been watching the air cells and making adjustments to the eggs themselves to see if my little "experiment" to save them will work.. so far so good.. the air cells were growing at too fast of a rate with the shells being so porous.. i checked my "control eggs" and that proved to me that I needed to alter the eggs a bit.. so when I did it seemed to make a vast difference.. now there is still the issue of bacteria that could have entered the shells at any point since they were laid being an issue.. but not much I can do about that other than hope none got through before I could work my hoodoo!

Love the campy music on your video LOL another great video, thanks for sharing.

Anyone else have eggs so dark they still don't know if they are viable? I have some greenish blue EEs that I cannot see a thing in

Nothing looks or smells so I'm leaving them in, but dang it! I want to see whats going on.

Our farm store had a sale Saturday night, 20% off everything....sooooo I bought another incubator heehee Now I got a hatcher to move the eggs into on day 18. With the discount it was only 38 bucks. When hubby and I were discussing purchasing it, he asked me how many chickens I planned on having

I told him I didn't think there was a limit. He just looked and me and laughed.

I have bantam cochins due to hatch on the 15th and white silkies to hatch three days later. The silkies' incubator is in my fifth grade classroom and the kids have been turning the eggs, keeping track of the temp and water and following the progress anxiously awaiting hatch day.

Once they have feathered out you can try putting them in with the rest of the flock at night the next morning when you let them out jsut watch and see what happens there might be a little pecking order going on but if they are getting pounced take them back out. Hope this helps and good luck

Personally, I won't put little chicks in with adult birds until they have seen each other for atleast 30 days. That means either keeping the chicks in the coop with a fence barrier, or an entirely different run that the older birds can see into. Some recommend not introducing them until they are the same size. It is not easy to add birds to an established flock and I would not want the babies being picked on excessively. All JMO of course

you will have to do what you are set up for and what feels correct for your birds, only you know the personalities.
