Thanks for the answer about humidity hot2pot. One of my hydrometers says 28 the other 45 hmmm not sure if the 45 one works its not digital. Sorry sweetie I wanted to see the air cell but couldn't all I could see was chick real big now! It was moving but I don't know if we will be able to see the air cell in these dark eggs at this stage, does anyone have any suggestions?

Depending on how many breeds go into lockdown, I'd probably divide them with wire so I know what is what when hatched...so probably laying down. See, I just can't decide

I'm going to have to go into lockdown tonight so I will have help. Were going to candle to see if we can tell where the air cell is if they are all the same were going to put them in pointy side down if some look like the air cell is on the wrong end we are going to lay them flat, but real excited I've read it's ok to lockdown a little early just not late!

My heart is a bit sore today. All my eggs showed development. Hard to see cause they were really dark maran eggs but around day 10 finally could see the dark shadow. I had breathing issues last night and had to go to the ER. My mom watched the kids. Came back early in the morning and collaped. Woke up a couple hours later and got up to turn the eggs. The lid was off the incubator and the temp was down to 80. My 3 year old snuck in while mom was gone to make sure my eggs didn't cook. Apparently him getting up did not wake anyone up. I put the lid back on and i guess wait and see but this hatch is probably done.

Ah, Heather. What a horrid thing to find. I am hopeful that everything will be OK. 80 isn't too cold, plus I've read of hens being accidentally locked out of nest box for a whole day and still hatching chicks. I'd just consider it the same as the electricity going out and add those hours to the time it will take to hatch.

Hope all is well Heather I always think you have a better chance with the temp dropping than it getting to high they might just hatch late. Steph I was going to lockdown tomorrow morning but my wife wont be here so were doing it tonight!!
