Hatch Update - We are done with batch #1 - PIC HEAVY

In bator #1 I have 20 eggs I put in on the 20th. Today is day 20
and 2 have hatched. I also have 14 eggs I bought on Ebay. 4 of them
have already hatched and they started yesterday. I put those in on
the 22nd. That means they are hatching on day 18 and 19.

One has mildly splayed legs. The temp has been at 100. I have a
flukers temp/hydrometer, one analog thermo, and one analog hydrometer.
I've also infrared test the eggs individually and they have been anywhere
from 98 to 100 degrees.

Bator #2 is full of gold and silver campines that went in on the 23rd and
30 delawares that went in on the 31st.

Bator #3, the golden bator, is cookin Hinkjc's and Speckledhens babies.
They went in on the 1st.

All 3 bators are Little Giant 9200s with forced air and egg turners.

Oh, yes, I sure did. Last thing we want is cooked eggs, LOL. This could be a sensitive subject with all the various temp spikes people have experienced lately. Congratulations, Don, on your ongoing hatches. Hope they all go well!

10 chicks from bator #1 are in the brooder.
All 10 are 12 to 48 hours old.

Doing ok here.

I messed up on my original egg counts.

In bator #1 we had approx 32 of our eggs put in between the
20th and 22nd. A few of these were from a broody hen that
the other hens were putting there eggs under so some had already
started, hence the day 18 hatches.

So, our 10 hatches so far our from our flock. This is a pleasant
surprise. This gives us a 30% hatch rate, not counting for
fertility, so far

The next batch was started on the 23rd, making today day 18.
They are in the hatching bator now. This batch came from an
ebay auction of assorted standards(couldn't help myself $4 + shipping).

The next batch, 9 silver and gold campines, hit day 18 tommorrow.

Just a point of curiosity...Just how many bators does one need?

You have 3, Cynthia has 2 or 3 and Miss Prissy has an ever increasing number.

When I finally have the pleasure of hatching eggs, is this the path I am going to be going down too? I like to know a little bit about the addictions I am likely to be drawn into.
