Hatch with me! Placed in bator on 5-13-2010. First hatch!

Well, I had to do something while I'm waiting, so I decided to put 2 Blk X Blue Wyandotte eggs in the incubator, and if they start to grow I'm going to put them under my BW broody. Poor thing has been sitting on golf balls for weeks now!!

I'll be looking for those pictures tomorrow!

Last 4 pips didn't make it... not sure why, they were fully formed and one had zipped halfway. There was no motion or sign of breathing. ONe Lorp, one BCM, and 2 LH's. All 4 araucanas made it, including the tiniest. I was rooting for them the most. Maybe the others jostling around and laying on top kept the last 4 from finishing. Sad they made it so far only to die in the end, but I'm happy that the other 20 are fluffy and happy in the brooder, and made it through the night. Some started eating and drinking right away.

Had to splint the toes on one BCM, a big guy who came out last. Anyone know how long to leave it on? Just one foot had toes that kept curling under/ folding. They just looked too soft. He's doing great with the taped foot.

Will post chick pics later. My favorites are the araucana's, though I can't tell if they have tufts or not, at least 2 look rumpless, and 3 have serious leg feathering, one just a little strip. Not sure what standard these are bred to, British, American or otherwise. I don't care, they're so tiny and amazing. I could stare for hours. I have one gold colored araucana with small dark stripes on his back. So curious what color he will be. He's the only light one amongst the BCM's, Lorps and Brown LH's. Funny how at day old the araucanas seem to find each other and hang out together.

Day 20 and i have 1 hatched out and 2 pips so far out of 15 assorted eggs... YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Here we go!!!!

Well, I went out to check on the broody this morning, and found an adorable little black and white fuzz ball along with multiple pips in progress! Broody is holding tight and baby is fiesty!

So, I said I would take pictures this morning of any that hatched and I did...wanna see em?

Well, I think we need a couple pics here, to keep us all focused on the 'prize'

I had one hatch last night and woke to find another 4 pips!

so far, eggs # 1, 3, 5 and 7 and pipped (what's with all the odd #'d egg's pipping?) and egg #12 has hatched! Yesterday was my birthday, what a wonderful bday surprise!!!
