Hatch with me! Placed in bator on 5-13-2010. First hatch!

I saw a hanging chick treat bar at the feed store that is supposed to keep them entertained. As soon as mine are settled into the brooder out at the chicken house I'm going to get them one! How are your other eggs doing? I forget when they are due to hatch. I'm down to 2 (3?) of the four from the 15 shipped egggs that came with broken ones. They are due June 10th. They go into lockdown tomorrow for a Wednesday hatch. I also put two of my own eggs in the incubator to put under my broody and both are growing. They are due June 21st. Looks like you ended up with a fun assortment of breeds/colors!

I don't think any of the other eggs from my group are going to hatch. No pips, peeps, or movement seen. The only one that did hatch has died from the abdomen not closing. Its heartbreaking because it was my first and only one but I am not giving up. I am going to start over and try again.

I have 2 white crested black polish, 1 unknown polish, 6 barred olive egger (thinking only four are good for sure though, to dark to see), 2 Salmon Fav and four EEs (but I think only three are good, to dark to see) going in lockdown tomorrow! My buff laced polish just didn't make it, my unknown polish might be a buff but can't tell its unmarked, might be a WCB or might be a WC blue! Never know.

They lady I got these eggs from was very nice though, she said since my buffies didn't turn out next time I order from her she'll add extras! She has some very nice EEs so I think I will order again. They are not your standard brown/red ones even the hens have pretty patterns. Big eggs too! SOOO heres to hoping

On a side note my two chicks we had to hatch by hand are doing better, Glue chick is becoming less of a glue chick. I sat up with her all last night under the heat lamp drying the dried egg on her out further and crumbling it. She looks like a half fluffed chick now! She slept in my hand

I tried putting her and the other one in the brooder with the others last night, but both were rejected and attacked. SOOO I'm making a chickie hospital today

Since they are both smaller I'll introduce them to the next hatch and see if that works, If not....well I have room for more brooders right?

On a second side note! We move into our first house tomorrow too!!!

My chickies minus the two in the chickie hospital right now.

and this is my lemon blue cochin. The other two cochins that hatched are blue, might grow out to be lemon blue. One has copper 'googles' and glue chick has lemon here and there on her underside but can't tell because she is still not fluffy.

I have a glue chick also! Poor thing was too large and couldn't zip so I broke her out and she has turned in toes and stands funny from being so twisted in the egg! Those glued down feathers sure makes them look pathetic don't they!! She is just starting to fluff out a little today. Obviously my chicks grew too large for the egg and the two that died couldn't turn to zip. From what I've read the humidity was too high, but I only kept it at 45% for the 18 days?

You sure have alot going on with new chicks, eggs going into lockdown and moving on top of everything!! Looks like we are both going into lockdown tomorrow. I'm so worried with just the two (possibly three~I'll see when I candle tonight) eggs still alive. I REALLY want these bloodlines from this top breeder of BLRW's!!!!
fl.gif
If only one hatches I'm going to have to go buy a buddy for it at the feed store . . . Oh, darn . .

hehehe!

Cute chicks!!! The duck finally made it out!!! It looks like a mallard baby yellow and dark brownish coloring....hmmmm no telling since they are pekin/crested mallard cross. It had some unabsorbed goo mucousy looking not yolk looking at all but it came off. The navel is closed but has a bump area....not sure gonna watch it. There is one chicken egg due to hatch tomorrow....The second duck egg for today has a dime sized area out but it does not peep it opens it's mouth and closes it but no sound leaving it alone till tomorrow and see where we are at. Still turning the other eggs trying not to lose them.....ummmm no more staggered hatches !!!!

Yeah think the glue chick thinks I'm momma... I have them still in the bator until I can get a second brooder tonight. Cleaned it out and put some 'mash' stuff in there, tried gro-gel they hate it...waste of money btw. She has a buddy in there, the other stuck chick, but she keeps peeping at the top of her lungs until I come back and sit there with her..... Pretty sure its a she

She seems strong enough at least, but I think her wing is broken from struggling in the egg
hmm.png
The others just try to kill them though, was brutal... So the East Texas Chickie Hospital opens up tonight

If you were closer I would give you one of mine Chickee!

Anyone have any idea about my brown marans chick? I haven't heard from the breeder yet... just curious if it is just a chick color thing or if I have a mix.
