Funny thing - I had a mix pullet that should start laying by now and I thought she was the one laying the purplish colored eggs. I have on in the bator on day 5. Turns out. It's a duck egg

Feel free to ask any questions! Everyone is welcome here. What kind of bator did you get? When are you setting your eggies? What type of eggs are you getting?
pop.gif

Most of the people here started their hatch around the 13th or so. BUT..I'm also starting another thread soon for around the 24th to 26th (or even a little later)! If your eggies come in around that time your welcome to join that hatch. You'll get lots of help from people here, they are very nice! But until then watch us here on this hatch and see us make the mistakes first!

Hi all! I candled my 29 Amer eggs this morning (5 are split Lav, others are BBS). Out of the 29, 22 are confirmed fertile!
ya.gif
Unfortunately, ALL of the split Lav's were either not fertile or early quitters.

Oh well, i would have needed to build a new pen for them anyway so I guess that's just less work for me.
idunno.gif
was kinda a hoping a couple would have made it though.

I didn't toss any but moved them over to the LG I have running and will check one more time before I put them into lockdown. One thing I need to do some more research on is that overall, they have lost an average weight of 12% already and they should only love 13.5% by lockdown so I think I'm a little off with humidity. I can't figure out HOW that is possible since it is SOOO humid here right now, has been rainy for days and I have both channels in my Brinsea 3/4 full!? anyone have any thoughts on that?

While I was candling, I accidentally dropped my flashlight and it hit one of the Russian Orloff eggs I had collected for an order this week!

at myself for doing that! GRRR. I only have two ladies laying right now so it takes a little while to get enough to ship out, I had 4 out of the 6 I needed and was hoping to be able to ship them tomorrow afternooon! Now I have to hope I get THREE more before Wednesday so I can ship this week, otherwise I'm going to have to set a couple and wait until after Memorial day to send. I did put the cracked on in the LG bator though

I doubt it will develop but figured it's worth a shot. I put a dent in where the air cell will develop so I guess it's possible it might develop.

I have done that once while candling. Except it was day 15 which is the last day I candle before going into lockdown and it was a Cuckoo Maran Egg
hit.gif
It was a WHITE one to! Thats why when I candle now i take the eggs to the candling spot so It doesn't happen again.
Hopefully your hens will start laying as if the were on steroids and you get those needed eggs fast!
