You are so funny!! Love your comments. I want/don't want to hatch but still a newby and being in the city should not have more than I have now.....but one of the BO's keeps going broody and wants to be a Mama so badly......and I want to experience the experience, just once. A bit of history: I got a pedigree cat in 1982 and wanted only one show, then only one litter, and ended up giving up the cattery and tons of awards---24 years later. (and probably hundreds of kitten sales) So, this chicken stuff is only 2 years new to me and I can see why it is addictive. I don't sleep with them, but sure do hold, talk and play with them much of the day....I totally understand a kindred spirit like you!!! Thanks for your entry. Dottie

I might have my lap chicken yet!!!

Both you and your baby-companion look happy,
Wonderful picture.
My husband has been holding our 4 feathered children on his lap while watching TV for a couple years now and they seem to really enjoy just snuggling down on his chest or lap...especially during an ANIMAL PLANET show. LOL

Some Incubating Porn. My first hatching. Swedish Flower Hens and Double-Laced Barnevelders. This photo was around Day 7. Today is Day 14, we will candle them and start getting ready for lock-down.

As this is my first hatching: I have a silly question. Do you start counting day one as the day you put them in the incubator, or is day one 24 hours after setting them? I do not want to start my lock-down too early/late.

Bator is full...set some English Orpington eggs that I had shipped in and some Buff Orpington of my own, there are also a couple EE's, and some turkey eggs. I also have a small incubator in the other room with 6 more turkey eggs in it...Yep I would say I am an addict. Luckily we live on a small farm so I can have as many as I want...uh oh is that lucky, or feeding my addiction.
