Hatchalong! Setting Eggs April 6, 2012. Anyone else in?

Oh I forgot to mention Nickie cute video and great candling! I bet you kids are getting really excited now!

those that had chicks hatch, pictures please! pretty please?

So... my eggs are also now in lockdown but I'm not really optimistic. Seems like the temps just want to wobble up and down. We candled (still can't get anything real good even with that little LED from Canadian Tire) and we water tested them. I could imagine that a couple wobbled a little..... maybe!! The funniest thing was that two of them flipped (meaning we had them upside-down in the bator..... oops!!!) At least they are now the right way up for hatch.

So we'll see by the weekend whether I have anything or not.

I'm fighting with every fiber in my body not to water check my eggs now. If I'm fast do you think I could put them in water at 99 degrees and see what happens?

The threads where I read about it said coolish water. I don't think the temp would be as important as losing the humidity in the bator... which is why you want to keep it closed always at lock-down..... that's why it's called lock-down. It would take a lot longer than the 15 seconds you have it in water to lose that much temperature (to my way of thinking).

Maybe someone else has more knowledge than I on the subject though.

I just checked and I got 2 tiny pips. So into lockdown they all went, without candleing. I wanted to candle one more time tonight but guess I'll just wait and see what happens. I ended up putting them into the carton's to hatch. my hatcher has been having weird temps depending on where the thermometer is. It does not have a fan. one side it reads 95 the other 103 and an inch or 2 away from the hot side on other side of the egg 100. Ugg. oh well, we will see what happens. the humidity around 75 - 80%. The 2 pipped eggs i noticed were marked Thursday on them so hopefully they will all go in order hatch tomorrow and friday.

Korban, My opinion would be to just wait another day or two to see what happens. Nothing you can do if they don't externally pip anyway.
Maybe candle them rather then the float test see if any of them have internally pipped and if the air sac is slanted or dipped. Just do one or two that your pretty sure was alive before you put into lock down. just take it out carefully but fast, keep lid closed while your candleing that one. Maybe just do two for now.

Okay, as you already know I've got three chicks out, one was out at 5am and the other two came out in the afternoon. But, the other two eggs that were piped just stopped, no more progress from them. Judging from the amount of condensation on the "windows" The humidity has gone down a bit. So, should I make a quick dash and run in there, pull out the three chicks and add more water? If I wait till later to open and get the chicks out, then the other eggs, if there's still a chance for them, will probably be lost. So what should I do? thanks for your prompt replies.
