Hi,
I've recently hatched a new baby chick out of an incubator and it won't stop chirping!! It is about 11 hours and laying on its back. It has not become fluffy yet and it does not look like it is hurt. It is chirping really loudly and I don't know what is wrong, please help!!!

Hi, it's a few hours later and the chick is fast asleep...he was just tired :D

Tired, and..it needs a friend if it is an only chick. Are there more to hatch? If not, it will probably cry for a while...a few days, or longer. Had one lonely chick in the house for a while. We became best buds. It would hear me open that door and run to the corner of the brooder where I was. Love that baby. It's outside now with buddies, still comes to me when I call it like I did when it was inside. :)

Yes, there are more on the way and should hatch in the next day or so. Thank you for the advice and that sounds like a lovely chick you have! :D

Hatching is exhausting for the babies. They can even fall asleep in the middle of eating or standing, and just fall over . It's a good idea to have a shallow water dish for them with clean pebbles or marbles in it, so if they accidentally fall in they won't drown.

Sending good hatching vibes your way
