Hatched!! Now I've got a problem?

Well, I opted to open the bator and remove the two quail. I had my faithful helper (aka my daughter) by my side to hold the lid while I snatched them up and made the transition. I only lost a degree for 30 min or so in the bator, and I took the oportunity to re-soak the sponges, so I think it will work out OK. Here are some shots of the babies in thier new environment...too bad this camera is just on loan...I really like sharing these photos!

Yep quail pop out, dash about, and want food and water asap. They'll start pecking the feathers off still hatching chicks if you leave them more than a day. Chicken chicks usually don't even want to eat when it's offered for the first day or 2.

Well the Serama's are here. I started with 8 eggs, lost the first one four days in with a blood ring. The second one I lost at about two weeks. That egg was cracked and repaired, so two weeks wasn't bad. Of the six that made it to lock down, four have hatched so far today, one is still working on it, and one is sitting silent. The quail are doing very well, and they are warming up nicely to being visited by the food givers. I want to thank everyone for their advice and support during this my very first attempt at hatching eggs!
