Okay, here's some of the darling Jersey Giants from Wynette's eggs that hatched on 9/24 and are in one brooder:

Later tonight when I get home and get some photos downloaded from the camera, I'll come back with photos of the latest hatchlings, which will be the FBCMs, the Salmon Faverolles, and the Buckeyes. Plus the other incubators loaded with eggs.

Linda- your not helping me here, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are too cute!! Good thing I only have about 30+ in the brooders so I have plenty chicks to cuddle!

I have some AWFULLY nice eggs just sitting out in my garage demanding I put them in the incubator. But, no. I refuse to let myself. The next batch of eggs is coming from someone else so I have some new DNA in my flock. I "will" wait. (I better cook those eggs tonight...)

I said I wouldn't hatch anything other than seramas until after January (when the PPBA show is--I usually buy birds there).

Um...until some Icelandic eggs somehow ended up in there!

Uh...it's for breed preservation, not just for my entertainment. Yep, right. That's what they're there for!

Haha If we are addicts, it's beginning to sound like Wynette is our "dealer", except she's also a "client"! HA

Linda, those are some super precious fuzzies!!! I got one of the JGs in my first hatch, but he passed in a tragic accident with my Jack Russell Terror. I am drooling over my Brinsea right now, dreaming of a successful hatch for a change. I am thinking of putting my LG setup on Craigslist in the spring, but is that wrong, considering I have failed so completely with it. Others have great luck with them, so I'm praying it's not just me.

I'll put three eggs from my Australorp hen Peachy( shes with a Dark cornish Bantam Rooster) And one from my Dark cornish Bantam hen Peanut.. So I have a total of 21 hatching eggs in my incubator now.. I NEED HELP lol sigh sigh sigh .. Hey do you have any donuts ????

I started with one chicken...which multiplied into 16. Then I had to get an incubator, because there is all these other cool chicken breeds out there that you can buy eggs from...I put 8 eggs in, and last Saturday they all hatched. Now I want to put more in.....is it possible to have an addiction when you have only hatched eggs once?

Maybe I belong here...new to chicks. First hatching this Aug. Second in lockdown now. Got eggs twice from BYCers. Got some bantams on craglist because they were laying and wanted to put more eggs in to hatch. Already talking about a newer and better incubator. Already talking about what am I going to put in after these go out to the coop. Am I and addict? LOL

Thank you for starting this thread!

Okay, I guess I'm an addict.

I've hatched out batches of "6" (b/c that's what the auction said, even tho' she sent 15, lol), then 12, then unabashedly 24,

and other numbers of chicks in between, every 6 weeks for the past year. My hatch rates started out fairly low,

then halfway through, amaingly, jumped to 100% and stayed there. I still kept on, with no excuse of "bad hatch".

I wanted to start a flock all from hatching, without using hatcheries or auctions for live chickens shipped. Boy, did I!! I've rehomed a whole lotta roos, too, with 80% male hatches for a while.

After the incubator's been off a couple weeks, I get antsy, and lonely, in my office, with out the sound of the little motor, the blinking red light, & the anticipation of staring at little cracks in shells all night.

After my last hatch of the year (no, really!) three weeks ago, it dawned on me,

Why not just fire up one of the Brinsea minis again, put 7 wooden eggs in it, set the auto turner on, and pretend that they're going to hatch?

It's kind of like Christmas lights in February because you've got the winter blues.

So anyway, I did this, despite the extra use of electricity, and it's actually working. I feel cheered & hopeful, somehow

I haven't looked at any egg auctions lately.

Is this like non-alcoholic beer, perhaps?

Does anyone else do this?
