Yes that is the correct temp as long as your bator is a forced air model. 101 to 102 for still air models. And as I said in my previous post, drop the humidity to about 40% for the first 18 days and then up it to 60 - 70% for lockdown/hatching. Once they start pipping/zipping/hatching the humidity will go up but don't worry, it is normal. Good luck!

Yes emjay,
My first time hatch was the most nerve wracking!!!! I'll bet it is for anyone who truly cares. But it does get easier (however the waiting part NEVER does).......it gets easier 'cause you have a better idea of what to expect, and more confidence.

I did freak out when I received my BCM eggs from Wynette. They were SO DARK, SO beautiful.......but they were spherical (which is what BCM breeders strive for).......but I couldn't tell which end should 'go up' in the turning tray. I was so proud of those little Wynette eggies and REALLY didn't want to mess up with them. I ended up taking the turner out of the 'bator and placing them on their sides and hand turning them for the first few days, while I was waiting for the goose egg trays (they are kinda like little wire baskets) that I ordered from the GQF Manufacture Co. In the goose trays the eggs are placed on their sides so you don't have to worry about which is the 'right' end to put up. I'll bet I grew some new gray hairs that week.
I had a super hatch and those BCM bitties are now just starting to lay.

thankyou. whew. doing much better today. I worked all day, which is good. I checked it as I left, was 99.3 and 8.5 hours later when I got back home, temp was still at 99.3, humidity is at 45-46 %.
So, all is going well.
I'm much more relaxed today, hahaha.
Thank goodness.

Just candled eggs on Day 18, some were too dark to see ANYTHING, but as I was handling the eggs, TWO of them CHIRPED at me!

I did have two "clears" in the Porcelain D'Uccles.

Now it starts, that anxious waiting and watching stage... I have Monday off, too, so if there are any early hatchers, I'll be around to see 'em.

I have to wait until 3/24 and 3/31 for my next hatches.......so I'm vicariously waiting with you'll.
Every time I have a hatch, it's like the first time........except without all the stress of 'first time hatch'.
This thread has helped me so much!!!
Thank you all for being out there.
I'm working on my 13th hatch now and wouldn't be here if it weren't for BYC.

I don't don't know if everyone has been "saved" but I am definitely addicted!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely have started to do "chicken math" to get more babies! Share your hatches to help quell my obsession please :D

And to distract me from constantly peering through the incubator's window only to find nothing has changed in 10 minutes lol
