Hatchery chicks

Never ordered from them. But the ones I have ordered, 4 times came on day 3 and only once came on day 2. There was never a weekend in those days I'm counting. I did have one shipment that came on day 7. Of course there were no live chicks in that one. The post office really screwed that one up. Only time the post office has made a mistake with an order for me tho.

I called them today and they acted very non interested in letting me know when to expect the birds. They don't even have a tracking number !! That's crazy.

None of the hatcheries have tracking numbers on their boxes. They also have no control over the USPS. Usually transit time is 2 days, occasionally 3 if you are in the middle of nowhere or severe weather messes up air traffic.

When my chicks were shipped from MPC on a Monday, I emailed them on Tuesday and explained that our temps had plummeted and I was worried about them arriving safely. They gave me the postal tracking number... that's how I knew there was an issue with mine. They were due on Wednesday and I didn't get them until Thursday - and the temp when I picked them up was 19 below zero!

Meyer Hatchery has tracking numbers for their chick shipments. We were able to keep very close tabs on where they were, and when to expect them. Very, very satisfied with that hatchery!

Did urs survive when u picked them up when it was. 19 below ?
I lost 2 in shipping. Then I lost a couple of more the next day.....but I have to say that it was entirely the postal service's fault. Those chicks arrived in Casper and should have been at my PO on Wednesday. Instead they sat in the Casper PO until the wee hours of the morning for the 4 hour drive up to us and I didn't get them until Thursday. Our postmistress, Jan, working with the tracking info I brought in on Wednesday, called the Casper PO and had them put a sign on the chicks that told the driver not to put them in the rear cargo area but keep them in the cab. He did. And I must say that MPC was wonderfully responsive. I got a refund for the birds I lost, even though they had really done a super job packing them, and a follow up email a few days later to see how the others were doing...even though it was after the 48 hour guarantee.

I got my 15 from Meyer in one day and had tracking. USPS called me when they arrived. All arrived safely, only one was stressed and all the rest were fine. All turned out to be beautiful chicks.

I'm really happy with mine too! They are 19 weeks old today, healthy, active, beautiful and beginning to lay! I won't hesitate to order mail order again, but I'll be smart enough to order for delivery later in the year!

Mine got here today all alive thankfully. Two are weak we will see if they make it :). I will probably try Meyer or cackle next I was not thrilled with Murray's shipping. I just don't understand not having a tracking number for live animals
