Hatchery chicks

I just received 3 healthy chick's from Meyer Hatchery. Their communication on the shipping process was excellent. The tracking number gave me up to date info on where they were between OH and VA. They only took 15 hours to arrive in my hands by the time they left the Hatchery. I would highly recommend them.

The two red leghorns have passed. They were very weak and lethargic. Any ideas what it could be ?

Meyer Hatchery has tracking numbers for their chick shipments. We were able to keep very close tabs on where they were, and when to expect them. Very, very satisfied with that hatchery!
That's unusual as the USPS website is so slow to update. Last time I sent a shipment to PA I had to stop by and tell my postmaster that the pullets did indeed arrive alive. The USPS site still showed them at our local sorting facility.

Shipping stress will take some of your birds on occasion. It is just something, that is part of the new chicks in the mail method of stocking your flock. Sometimes though even your own hatchings will pass, there is no grantee with livestock. The hatcheries hate dead birds as much or more than you do. It is bad for business, they do their best to get live birds out to the customers.

Perhaps the postal workers were extra hard on your shipment, we will never know. Sorry for your loss, I understand that it won't help anything, but nonetheless I am always saddened at the passing of a young life.

All my boxes of baby birds have had tracking numbers on them but the hatcherys did not provide the tracking numbers with the exception of Holderread . They just told me the birds should arrive within 2 days. The boxes say priority 2 day.

Got my Bantum chicks today from Crackle, early this morning, shipped on Monday. All alive and well except one that looks to have been smothered in the corner of the box. I hate to lose any birds, but one out of thirty is pretty good getting them to my place in northern Utah' Cache Valley. I would buy from them again, and would have no problem in recommending them.

The chicks were alert chirping like heck and with some feed sprinkled over paper towels, and a dip of the beak into some room temp water, they were off and running. The little stinkers are pooing up the place big time.

Hope everyone's birds arrive safe, and healthy.

Edit: I ordered 29, I was shipped 34, very cool on their part.

A silver leghorn passed this evening. The rest are super healthy. ! I am very happy overall :)

I am very impressed with the red star chicks I got in this batch. They are very healthy and active . I hate I list the red/silver leghorns. They are small compared to the other chicks

Can someone help me identify chickens I bought off Craigslist ?
