Production Reds can be hybrids of any brown-egg laying, dual-purpose, red-feathered breed (hatchery New Hampshires, hatchery Rhode Island Reds, Red Sex-Links, etc). A unique combination of genes could contribute to chipmunk-patterned chicks.
