URGENT duckling eye infection

I have six ducklings all only a couple of days old. Just called the feed and farm supply store in town today and they just learned today while I was on the phone asking if they had it that due to FDA regulations they are now are no longer able to stock Terrimycin.

The emergency vet right near me does ducks but their doctor who sees ducks is out (sounds like indefinitely from the call?) on sick/injury leave.

The next closest one is super far away and got me an appointment the day after tomorrow at 12pm. I have been dealing with this since 3am this morning. It is currently 5pm. I haven’t been able to even do the dishes I’ve only eaten breakfast.

Will she make it to Wednesday afternoon? I probably need to get an Uber out there and back and have someone watch the rest of them which is super annoying. Unclear if my boyfriend is gone or not for the next few days he missed a train.

I will have to bring the little brood plate and the generator and plus the big heat plate into the wall and separate them. And I need someone to watch the rest for me while they are gone.

Everyone else seems okay so far I am thinking about isolating her but she will be sad and lonely and she doesn’t seem to be spreading it, but that could change and I learned my lesson raising (failing to, actually) [edit: the words “Ceannothus silk moths” got cut off here.] last year

The vet said don’t do anything yet and to not put neosporin because it’s not safe for duck eyes but it’s all I have access to and I have heard mixed results.

I have some sterile saline I’ve been putting into her eyes before I only had clean disposable cloth with water.

I don’t want her to go blind/die etc from infection and I don’t want to make it worse.

Sterile saline is good and I have also used Tea bags you soak the tea bag for a minute in lukewarm water not hot. Then you can squeeze drops of tea straight from the bag into the Ducks eyes.

OK, so I got this online but it’s about using it for people‘s eyes. I’m pretty sure it’s the same for animals’s eyes- at least I know that you can use black tea, green tea, white tea, and chamomile because I have used all of those. I even accidentally used an Earl Grey teabag which has Bergamont and it was fine.​

Black, white, and green tea contain caffeine and antioxidants that may help to treat eye concerns. Herbal teas are calming and soothing. They may help to reduce inflammation, puffiness, and irritation.

They don’t sell it anymore at least not around here there was a new law last year or something like that. , the op said it’s a federal law.. I bought an extra one right before they made it prescription only. You used to be able to get it on Amazon too.

Pictures of the ducklings eye would be very helpful. Depending on the severity of the eye is how I would determine if it needs separated. More than likely the ducklings got poked or something in it. Do they have enough water to at least dunk their whole head? Is the water cleaned daily? Ducks and especially ducklings need to have enough water to submerged their heads.

*** Edit!! So apparently Terramycin has been removed online and now prescription only. This is supper annoying. Guess I better treat the stuff I have left like gold.

*Ducks need to submerge their heads to: flush debris from their nostrils and eyes to prevent infections and respiratory issues

This is my go to for any eye problems for all my birds chicken's, ducks, turkeys ect.

I knew the Terramycin was off the shelves but I thought Vetrycin eye wash was still available. It is on Amazon.

You’re so right and I have that too. Just forgot about it. . I did try it once in the past and I don’t think it worked very well. But it could be a good in between till she gets to the vet for the terra mycin that’s very true
