Hatchery Minimum of 3 Chicks

This chicken season I am hoping to buy three or four chicks to add to my flock. I am searching local feed stores specifically for Leghorns and Golden Comets (Hybrid), but the only place where I have found Leghorns available is Tractor Supply; but you have to buy a minimum of six chicks, which I don't have room for, plus I can't end up with a roo, and all of their Leghorns are unsexed. So, instead of buying from local feed stores I began searching online. Does anyone know of a hatchery who has a minimum order of three chicks?

I believe that Meyers Hatchery lets you order a minimum of 3-4. Might want to check it out.

Also based on how chick raising seems to go sometimes i would order a few more than you want. That way if they sex one or two wrong you will still have as many as you want. Or if they dont all survive for some reason. You can always sell the xtras if you end up with any

Not a bad idea, a friend who lives down the road from me might be willing to a roos off my hands if I end up with some.

I checked out Meyer Hatchery. Beginning next month I can order as few as three chick, but I can't determine how much the shipping will be. Does anyone know the average shipping cost for Meyer Hatchery? I'm finding that if you order small amounts of chicks, it can cost up to $35!

I don't know how much shipping costs for them, but I know for fewer chicks it is more expensive because they have to make sure they are warm, while if there is a lot they have body heat.

Could you get more and split the order with someone else?
