Looking to get some information about the different online hatcheries...

This has probably been addressed many times and if there is a link to the information, I'd be much obliged.

Anyone order from cacklehatchery.com?

Also...reviews on Murray McMurray, Ideal, and any others would be appreciated. Thanks.

cackle put the wrong zip on my order and i received my birds a day late 8 out 15 lived. they resent the entire order .
all arrived well and are doing great. its real hard to get them on the phone .

Meyer did a great job of sending me chicks promptly. The chicks are healthy.
BTW , I am still fighting Cackle, who cannot manage to cancel my order (after faxes, e-mails & letters) and who charged my credit card for chicks I didn't want AND in excess to the cost of what they plan to ship. Dreadful.

I have only ordered from Murray McMurray, I received exactly what I ordered, arrived promptly on the day it was supposed to, and all chicks were in excellent shape.

We ordered from Cackle on 3/19/08. We were told when we ordered the chicks would be shipped on 4/16/08 and they would arrive on 4/18/08 (and they did)

All 29 chicks were just beautiful and healthy. Now, 6 weeks later they are all still going strong. We have not lost any.

I've read that Cackle is a Mom & Pop hatchery with minimal staff. When we ordered we had no trouble getting through on the phone. I have read that people are having trouble getting through to Cackle right now. Perhaps they are over whelmed with orders.

I would order from them again. We were pleased.

McMurray couldn't pay me to take their chicks again after this year.

Brau's and Hoover's have been very good. My friend lives down by Cackle and says their chicks are good. Her family has gotten them from there for many years.

I got 2 orders in last week from Meyer and Welp.
Meyer is closer to me but it took them 2 days to get to me and so far I have lost 4 chicks.
Welp is much farther away from me but I got the chicks next day and have not lost any of their chicks. Those chicks also seem much larger and happier.
It seems different people get different results but I will go with Welp if I need chicks again!

Good luck!

Ordered from MyPetChicken.com last year and got exactly what we ordered - types and sexes - and shipped on time. All were/are very healthy. Picking up an order from Meyer in a couple weeks; never ordered from them before but their customer service people were very friendly!
