I do not recommend getting Salmon Faverolle from a hatchery if you want a quality bird.
Mine are very sweet and have wonderful chatty, friendly personalities, but otherwise...well, check out this hen.

Her name is Oddity because she's just odd all around! Poor lady.

She's totally the wrong colors, obviously. She has only a few feathers on her sad looking feet.

After she molted she never regrew her tail.

And the worst part is that she has no wings! She has short, hard bones that are very thick stubs where her wing bones should be. She has no flight feathers or anything, just those little stubs.

She came from Ideal hatchery. She's one of our favorite girls, personality-wise, but her genetics are so pathetic!

Thank you for sharing! I think it would be a good idea if a topic could be created to show what hatcheries breeds are good/bad. Sure no one expects show or breeder quality from a hatchery, but even the hatcheries say that your bird will represent the breed. I got some birds from Ideal as well, and don't suggest getting their Standard Light Brahma. Meet Peperica. Supper sweet, but looks like a mix to me. lol.

Ideals Standard Dark Brahmas and Old English Game Bantams were very nice. And their Standard Buff Brahmas are tollerable, but rather underweight.

Sorry about your girls condition. I had a SLW like that, she always looked dreadful, but she acted like she was fine. Happy to hear that she has a good home, with you! Love her name

You couldn't help but appreciate her. She croaks like a bull frog!! Every night she runs to me, then to the coop, then back to me, back to the coop, croaking at the top of her chicken lungs. She wants to be lifted up onto the roost pole to go to bed. She can't fly up since she has no wings, she can only hop a few feet to reach the nest boxes and no higher.

Just out of curiosity I hatched one of her babies...secretly hoping to breed flightless chickens for backyards...but he had fully normal wings and he is a normal looking rooster.

I got some fat fluffy buff brahmas from Ideal! I don't have any of them left now, but I do have one of their offspring (a Buff Brahma roo from Ideal and a Buff Brahma hen from Ideal whose egg that I hatched) and she has a huge fluffy butt. I'll look and see if I have a recent picture of her, she's just now getting to the point of lay...

Happy to hear yours were larger. I got mine last year in an Brahmas Standard Assortment, and the buffs were so much smaller I had to wonder at first, did they toss in Bantams. lol. They are good pets, and layers though. Hopefully they will grow more, but they are much smaller then the Lights and Darks.

I have a similar brahma from MM:

The funny thing is she was totally normal looking before her first adult molt.

I got this BO at the same time- she's perfect in every way- except she's almost white
