Hatchery SLW? (Silver Laced Wyandottes)

Well that settles it! All the birds I have seen here are beautiful. I do not have a breeders eye, and I am dern satisfied with the looks of hatchery SLW. Thank you ALL for your beautiful pictures!! I am excited to get my SLW (A WEEK FROM TODAY YAAAY!). I will post pictures ASAP when I am able!

Katy, Thank you very much for your information! It is nice to hear from a breeder as well, and you are welcome to post pictures of your SLW to compare. I've got my fill on hatchery pictures

Hopefully if one of my hens ever goes broody I can stick some fertile eggs under them

Are there ever 'throwbacks' with your birds? Like do they ever produce a chick that is red, or totally miscolored? Just curious, I know horses and dogs tend to do that every now and again, but never heard about chickens.

I only finally found some eggs from good birds about 18 months ago and so far all the ones I've hatched out of those birds have been very nicely marked and shaped.

My feed-store chickie girl (hatchery unknown) is now 20 weeks old. Her laced (white w/ black edges) feathers are mostly on her chest and upper abdomen. Her hackles are black with white edges. The rest of her body feathers are black with a single thin white stripe down the middle. The laced feathers have come in only the past month or so, so I hope she gets more lacy feathers after the next moult. She may not be the belle of the ball, but she's mine.

I'm glad I found this one. I bought a hatchery (feed store) SLW last year, and I think her coloring is nice. I bought 2 more from a feed store this year, and even at 9 weeks old, their coloring is way off. I thought something was wrong with them.

This is Gina - the one we bought last year - she'll be a year old in May

I bought 3 SLW from my local feed store and this is what they are looking like at 2 months. Positive that they are all pullets. If anyone notices anything different please let me know. I am hoping their lacing gets more pronounced as they age.

Here are more pics of "Lacey."

JMPE, Those are beautiful age progression pics of your SLW. And very encouraging, because the 9 week old pic of your SLW, is just about exactly what mine looks like right now, and yours turned out so well! Here are some pics of my "Lacey" who is 9 weeks old now. This chick was from Dunlap Hatchery in Caldwell, Idaho.I'm actually still waiting to see if Lacey is a pullet or not. We cannot keep roosters. This little chick is so sweet and so tame, I would hate to have to rehome it.
