Hatching 11-13-09..anyone else?

No pictures, but I didn't trust my humidity system and opened it VERY quickly this AM to add water (didn't need to) and I saw a PIP! Now I just have to leave it closed and sit on my hands until I hear lots and lots of peeping tomorrow, when they're due to hatch~LOL

Ok i have 7 hatched so far and have a couple more pips i think so here are some pics of the first 6 that i got out of the bator

Oh, love the pictures! OSUman ... are these my grandchicks? Does that mean I have good fertility? I'm excited to see how they grow, what they will look like! My 3 roosters are 1) Cuckoo Marans, 2) Rhode Island Red, 3) a beautiful mutt (want to see a picture of them?)

Yes they sure are i have had 9 hatch so far and i had 2 die after they hatch. If you want to post pics of your roos thats fine by me (especially of the RIR because i think the lighter ones are half RIR half BO. The darker ones look like they are blue do you have any with blue coloring in your flock?

This is Obama, my big beautiful mutt. He was given to me with my silkies. So named, as President of the Silkies, where he lived until he got too big! The guy said he is 1/2 silkie. Ha, I don't know where, maybe in the gene pool? He is big and beautiful!

How did the 2 die? Awww, that's sad.

In my recent hatch, I had one die the first day ... drowned in the water dish, even with marbles in it! Sad!

Mstricer,
I took mine out and put them on the bottom of the incubator as well. I'm trying some shelf liner this time to keep things more sanitary. I'm not sure why I dont like the idea of hatching in the carton, I just dont. It just doesnt seem to be very comfortable for the chicks.

Well day 19 and lockdown for me. Nothing going on yet though. Last time was my first hatch and I wound up with a major neck ache (had to go to ER and get shot, lasted 2 weeks) from looking in the bator. I'm trying real hard not to do that this time but I cant help but want to look. LOL
