blah... I took mine out as soon as I was sure it was dead, which was pretty obvious because it had stopped moving and the veins were really faint.
Sometimes things like this happen and we have no idea why, but most likely for the best, duckling could have had some serious problems.

Good luck on your 7 and by the way a great number too!!

No, sorry I got in trouble and couldn't go on the computer yesterday. I can't candle so I'm not sure if any have broken the aircell but this morning I saw one rocking! Not sure if that means its trying to external pip or internal pip... I just wish they would make the external pip already!!

when a duckling makes an internal pip, it only has limited air to make a pip, right? so does anyone ever make a small hole in the end of the egg (where the aircell is) after the chick makes the internal pip, to make sure they don't suffocate? I thought I heard of this before but idk

Well it's debatable....everything I've read said don't open the incubator especially when they pip as it affects the humidity and shrink wraps them....BUT my mandarin duck eggs all died because I didn't help!:( And I've heard call ducks can have a hard time hatching. Next time I do duck eggs if they haven't hatched after 24hrs after the due date I'm going to put an air hole in and then cover them in a wet paper towel to help humidity. Go with your gut. If they're still rocking that's a good sign. But if they can't seem to externally pip it's up to you if you want to help. I'm sorry I'm not much help. It is SO hard to know what to do. Good luck and hope you get lots of babies:)

THEY'RE TAPPING!! I REPEAT, THEY'RE TAPPING!! One of them I just candled (for the last time) broke the aircell and is tapping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (trying to make the outer pip) YAY!!
