it's likely the egg was actually ejected from the nest either because it failed to hatch or a predator dropped it while raiding the nest. so there's no point in incubating it bc it probably already failed to hatch

What bird did it end up being?

It passed away at about a week old, so I never found out. I want to become a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
