Hatching again, need tips

I’m getting even more curious. Do keep us informed. :caf
If you have too many eggs/chicks for yourself. : Surprise chicks 🐣 Would be a great Xmas present for lot of kids and adults in you're area. Let people order in advance 4 Xmas chicks for $20 (only pick up) 🤣

(with complete set up and warmth plate it would cost a lot more of course)

My bid is still up on ebay...I am not sure I am going win, but if I do, those eggs will go in a diff incubator.

I am thinking on hatching the eggs my neighbor gave me in a homemade incubator, that I have used many times and it holds the heat well. below are the pics and steps. This box is foam lined on all sides and is 18x18. It has a small glass lid for turning eggs...

I have a turkey foil on the bottom with a clamp light, 15w bulb,(no clamp and no shade) wire floor 1/2 way up... (no water below)

On top of the wireI placed cloth and cover the gaps, so chicks don't fall through, also a piece of cardboard on top of the wire, and a basket for the eggs on that...you could put cloth place mats on the wire, what ever works...no fear- I have hatched in this incubator many times, nothing touches lamp.

I put a cloth on the basket for easy clean up, (or you can do that on day 18...)

Last pic is my thermometers (not heated up yet..) but water with penny from before 1982.

I am going to let eggs room temp 24 hrs then set. I am not setting with other eggs because I am hand turning and don't want the other eggs to get cold. I don't know how many will fit...I will take a pic once they are in.

I set the eggs in the basket to warm up to room temp, that will go into the homemade incubator to see how many would fit. I wanted them on their sides but not crowded. I chose some darker eggs from yet a diff farm, and half were from the eggs I got yesterday. These will be all the ones incubating in this incubator.
