Hatching assistance - help!!

They poop sometimes in the shell and its yellowish in color. So the chick rotated around the egg? That's a good sign all that movement and pecking pulls the yoke in and closes the belly up. Such a stressful situation, if it were mine I would go for it, if you think you've broke the yoke it's not going to make it, but I'm thinking you didn't cause the chick is still peeping. The one I helped I ended up cracking egg and membrane up towards fat end until I had about half the egg shell left, with the chick still balled up, set it back in incubator and it stepped out. The umbilical cord was still stuck to chick and shell I left it for about a half hour to dry then clipped it off.

I did in the end have to give a little bit of further assistance just with pulling the tougher membrane, the part that had been exposed, but my goodness - it was so very exciting to see the little thing eventually push through! My daughter has decided it's name will be 'miracle', as we were so convinced that it wouldn't make it!
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your assistance, it is so very nerve wracking assisting a hatch for the first time.
We now have 8 beautiful little chicks! Of various breeds. I will keep the remaining 4 eggs in incubator for a couple of days, but as I haven't seen any movement or heard any chirps from them, I think 8 is our final number - which I think is a pretty good hatch!!

Looks like it may have a small scratch on back, a bit hard to see as obviously is still in incubator. Is moving around and finding it's feet (sorry, I am ridiculously excited about the fact it is alive and well).
Once dried off and ok to move to brooder, what is the best way to treat a small scratch? I don't want others to peck at it?

I was in a situation like yours only a week and a half ago. My broody had one baby hatch but I couldn't assist it as I was in a hurry to get to an event. I wanted to stay but I couldn't. Anywho, Came home at midnight exhausted, went to bed and in the morning around six I ran out to check on the baby. It was dead in the shell. I peeled back most of the membrane since most of the shell was gone already and I seen that he was hatching on the wrong side.
I am so happy your baby is out and alive.
Here is a link that has natural remedies for most chicken ailments. There is a wound wash on there as well. It should help if your baby does in fact have a scratch.

It is exciting! Hopefully it's not a scratch, could be a dried on blood vein from the egg. When they are pipped for along time stuff inside egg tends to dry up. What kind of chicks are they? Were they shipped eggs?
