Id suggest a nice 9 bulb led light, the brighter the better, makes candling so easy, first time i used a flashlight/light bulb DIY thing, was pretty hard, with the LED light much better, you still wont shine through the chick, but you can see the movement spot on!

I have 1 peacock egg that went into lockdown yesterday! It is due to hatch the 8th

I have Old English and partrige wyandotte bantams going into lock down tomorrow. I am very concerned because I think I may get 6 out of 25! I am using an LG still air with an automatic turner. Humidity has been 56-60%. The temp has been pretty consistant 99.5-100.5F. I will increase the humidity for lock down right? I wish that i had researched what type of incubator to get. I honestly thought they all worked otherwise they would not sell them

One just hatched!! Won't be able to go to sleep now! 8 are pipped and some are moving out of 28!

So far this morning I have 8 babies!! There are several pipped but its getting hard to tell because of all the shell pieces and the babies crawling all over! Here are some pictures of my new fuzzy butts!!

Still waiting for them to dry before taking them out!

oh, rocky road, what cute babies!!!!! congrats on your success. my duckies are wiggling, but no pips yet. i had a discrepancy with the 2 thermometers - 1 said 100, the other 102, so i left the temp gauge alone & split the difference. it may have slowed hatch some. i'm beside myself with worry. the last 3 days hovering over the bator, today i can barely look because i just want to cry. i hope they make it.

I put 42 dominque eggs from my own stock in the incubator about 3 weeks ago, with all the hot weather here and nightly storms messing with the humidity I didn't give them much hope, Today was hatch morning, my farm helper and grandson went out to check around 0900 this morning and lo and behold 8 out of the shell allready and I saw about 12 pips. I have another batch of eggs almost ready to go in the incubator 42 more eggs, this time I'm going to try putting the incubator in the basement instad of the barn feed room for a more stable temp and humidity, wish me luck . I am trying to build up my dominque stock.

I had mine in my unfinished basement. the temperature was so stable there and no drafts it worked great. I got 10 out and 18 left in the incubator of which some are pipped and rocking. I will add more pictures later!
