Hatching buddy? Set today, due May 18th

randomness, I'm sorry to hear about your power outage, too. Guess you could say my eggs suffered power outage today, too. But mine are under a hen, not in an incubator. I don't know if the hen is going to go the distance with these eggs. From what I can tell, she's really just acting partially broody. I think she's spending too much time off the nest. A couple of times today I peeked in on her, and she was off the nest and nestled in a corner of the coop on the floor. No visible signs of bugs on bird or in nest.

This is my first time with setting eggs under a broody - and hers. What I've read on incubator threads, the temp needs to stay right around 100F. If my eggs are becoming cool to the touch several times a day, how will the chicks' development be affected? I'm not feeling very encouraged. But, I am looking forward to your success stories, hatch mates!

We are still hanging in there. She doesn't seem to get up unless I make her - hardly any eating and drinking either.

Doing GREAT! Moved her into the dog pen so I feel a lot better. She's become attached to the nest so I don't have to worry about her trying to go back in the nest boxes.

Took her out for a break today since I didn't yesterday (but I did get her to eat and drink and she pooped before I went out there), and she absolutely loved it. It's gorgeous and sunny outside so she took a good long drink of water and then took a nice dust bath. I decided to take her out of the dust bath after 5 minutes, let her shake off, tried to give her some layer feed (she didn't want it, she wanted grass and worms instead), and put her back in the pen. After drinking some more water she saw her eggs and headed right to them. She's so cute as a mommy

I tried candling but can only see the shadow from the yolk, so I'm going to force myself to wait at least a couple more days before handling them again.

Here's her broody pen

My broody is doing pretty good, she smashed one egg I thought about taping it but I think there is too much damage. Yesterday My broody was looking sick so I made her get off the nest and eat/drink etc.
Today, she started clucking at me in her cage and got up so I let her out came back a half a hour later and she was sitting on eggs in the nesting box, the ones in the cage were cold, So I put her back..... I have my fingers crossed.

Candled yesterday. Had 3 clears out of the dozen Blue Wheaten Amwraucana eggs.
The rest are developing nicely. Even the 3 Blue Wyandotte eggs are developing. So exciting!

Mrs. Grumpy is doing good so far. She gets up for her daily break and goes right back to the nest afterwards.

Sure, the more the merrier.

Mine are due on the 15th too. This is the closest group I found.
Really excited over this hatch as it has 3 eggs from my Wyandotte girls.
So far Lester has done his job. I hope they all turn out to be girls.
