Hatching call ducks for the first time

Hi,
Well I bought them on eBay and of course they are “super rare” that’s what the seller told me. They are Australian Spotted Ducks. I have 2 that went into lockdown today. I can clearly see the one moving and it’s beak. The other one I didn’t see any movement. I hope it’s ok because I did have one explode 3 days ago, yuk! that was the
most horrific smell!! I cleaned all the eggs with a half “gold listerine” and half water mix, I read somewhere that was a safe method. It looks like it one is trying to make the pip hole. I see a yellowish mark on what looks like the membrane. I read that rare ones most likely need help. I did not know what I was getting myself into but with that being said it is what it is and I need to make sure I get them to hatch. So do I have to make the pip hole? I am very thankful for any advice you can give me.

Australian Spotted are bigger than call ducks, So I would only assist if need be. You can make a small safety hole 18-24 hours after their internal pip if they make no progress and allow longer for them to externally pip/zip before assisting. Australian Spotted are pretty big so you shouldn't have many problems, but just remember ducks are slow hatcher's, I like to give mine plenty of time before I help.

Best of luck and keep us posted! I suggest you read this article by @Pyxis

@WVduckchick is an expert on hatching calls as is @Pyxis I believe. Maybe they can give you some advice.
Ok thank you I will message
ok well it’s been a very busy day. I do have some good news. I do have one healthy duckling! I also have one little duckling that is still half in and half out of the egg. I had to assist with the first one and I thought I needed to do the same for the second. When I got to a certain point I realized that it was still absorbing the yolk so I placed both back in the bator. It does seem to be drying up so hopefully that’s all it is, he is successfully getting around a little and getting stronger. The other is doing great. I am praying to share more good news tomorrow. I have 12 bantams that are hatching in the incubator next to them. It’s been a crazy day. I will share some pictures when I know everyone is good. Thanks everyone. 😊
