Hatching Call ducks thread

I thought the "yolk" had fallen off but seen he is still dragging it along. Can't take a picture as he is currently sat on it!

The yolk gets sucked into the body cavity, it does not fall off, so I bet what you are seeing is just the leftover goo.

No, not dark like that, its slightly yellow with parts looking like what I could only describe as scrambled egg!

Umbilical and it dries up and falls off...

I know I'm a noob with ducks but none of the others came out like that. (Granted I didn't see 3 hatch though)

If concerned do you have them on paper towels?...That's the best till 24 hours later..

The amount of goo varies, but it is normal. Yolk looks like this:

The little guy I took the last picture of is in the bator on his own drying off, still carrying round the small yellowy stuff, it's the size of a UK 2 pence. The other two that I tried to assist as were shrink wrapping are in a seperate bator, they both have big holes, both breathing and wrapped in moist kitchen towels

Don't wrap in moist towels at all you will shrink wrap them...

No it doesn't look like that. Neither does it look like a dead chick that hasn't absorbed the yolk. I'm probably over reacting but I've found incubating ducks 100 times more stressful that chickens. They just did their thing

Shall I take away from around the eggs then but keep the kitchen roll in the bator to keep humidity up?
