Ok so I've made some horrible mistakes and I hope that I have not ruined everything... I have chicks hatching and I noticed one being stomped on laying on its back... I removed the little trouble makers and put them in the brooder... all is fine. The trouble makers are fine, the one being chickie jumped is fine too. The problem is... I now have 2 eggs that pipped and died... I know that this is caused by me opening the incubator... but I couldn't help it! What do you guys do when morals step in the way during a hatch? I feel like such a dummy! Out of 12 eggs, 11 made it to the chick stage (I candled before placing them into the hatcher). Out of those 11, 5 have hatched and now 2 are dead! Those were not the only eggs in there... just using a certain breed... they were all Barred Rocks. The rest of the eggs were Ameraucana.
Of course I reopened the incubator to check and make sure they were actually dead... I saw them not breathing and panicked... I always think I can save them even after they stop breathing.
Anyway, please don't yell at me! LOL.
