Hatching conundrum

I have had a broody hen lay for I think three days? after 'appearing' to be broody, but not actually in full broody mode yet.
I have never seen or heard of a hen carrying eggs under her wings before, but they are very good at rolling them with their beaks, even over low nest box partitions.

Same situation but she kept getting more and more broody until eventually she actually did. It started with puffy, then hissing, then staying on the nest longer and longer each time.

I was just lucky all around with this mama. She wasn’t a hisser or aggressive when I would check on her, she enjoyed me petting her while she was all in broody and appreciated the food and water I took to her, even after the babies were still hatching under her, she would encourage the babies to come eat and drink while I was there. She allowed me to move her and the babies , and comes to me when I go see her, which brings the babies to me, and she is good with that. It’s so heartwarming. My other broody, on the other hand, is vicious , but I’m totally respecting that 🤣

So, l candled my egg before I left for my daughters wedding on Friday, and it was solid dark. We decided to leave it and hope it didn’t explode before we got home today. The egg did explode, with a fluffy, black, adorable little Cemani! Seven days after the original hatch! She has been reunited with mama and siblings, and everyone is just happy as can be 😊 Nature is beautiful 🖤
