Hi All!
smile.png

I'm a new member to the "BackYardChicken" community but have followed many threads in the past.
It all seems very exciting but I can't see a thread detailing current hatches (through incubation or broodies).
So... I decided to start one myself!
Feel free to post pictures, updates and more of all of your processes!
Me myself, I am on day 13 currently and I have 4 eggs looking great, 2 looking OK, and 1 looking like a yolk!

I am sure I am not alone in sitting there like this

for the remaining 8 days and I will post pictures and updates of my bator and the eggs if anyone wants me to :)
So enough about me and my eggs, how is everyone else's!!

That's great! I couldn't recommend buying an incubator more, this isn't actually my first hatch, but is my first of the summer and intact the year.
The bators themselves are great fun, and are a good hobby to have at a (relatively) low cost in comparison with some breeding adventures!
Best of luck in your search and thanks for the reply

Oh fun, great idea. I bought a Hov-a-Bator with egg turner,
This is my first time hatching. I had 33 eggs but 8 were candled recently and were see thru so the cats get em.
This morning I checked with my trusty flashlight to see on pipping! EARLY! Whoa!
I am hatching an assortment of bantams. This first one will be a splash cochin. Fingers crossed!
I have 25 left that candled well. I am excited to see if I can do this. Brooder is ready too.
So this is my day 1 for hatching, wish me luck!

Hello. I am incubating chicken eggs and I am on day 21 in my little giant incubator. I don't see any change in my eggs. I have one that looks like it is starting to ooze something but I am not seeing any pip holes.I believe to oozing one may be rotten. Scared to open bator and take it out. My temp and humidity are right on and have been through the whole process. I guess my question is how much longer should I leave them in there???;Help.. Thanks

First of all, best of luck to you!

This is by far the most exciting part of the process, although it can be a very nervous time, I have found over time!
The best thing to do I guess is just leave them and control your excitement!!!!

Keep us up to date and hopefully you get some more of those fluffy angels

Nelly, I would remove it quick like a bunny. I candled all of mine and removed any questionable ones. Ick could make the new peeps sick I would think.
Bator, I am all set but do keep peeking thru the glass hehe

Hi there Nelly! and welcome to the topic!
If all your settings have been correct, the only question I have for you is have you been turning your eggs enough?
If you have not been, the yolk may have stuck to the egg and killed off any life

I would immediately take out this "oozing" egg if you can be sure there is no life in there as it could infect the other eggs.

and finally, the 21st day is no set margin, some have hatched on day 25 or 26 but this is an extremely rare occurrence.
if it was me, I would keep them in there for 5 more days, just in case you got your days mixed up slightly, or the eggs
were just late developers! Best of luck to you and fingers crossed

Nelly - Aww... on your first time hatching an early pipper must be so exciting!!

A cute story of mine is that one time I had an early piper (day 19) and on day 21 I had a little struggler who
had been struggling to get out of it's shell for a whole day. The earlier chick helped the little guy out of his
shell and then the 4 that had hatched got on fine despite their various breeds!!

Good luck with the hatches and hopefully they'll all get through it safe and sound
