Hatching Duck eggs....I messed up...UPDATE.....#1

Maybe since mom was so excited.....maybe the girl was wanting them as a surprise for mom. So tried every way she could without having to let mom know. Any way-That's my story and I'm sticking to it

The people were very nice.....The girl text me a picture of the two Ducklings settled into the new brooder.....She named them Norton and Dvorak..........

I brought Bouncer in and the girl had a very easy time picking once she saw Bouncer....She quickly took Trouncer and then picked Cooper.....Bouncer and Lucy put on a great show for them chasing each other.....lol....

The Mom was so excited.....My Big Ducks were out, so I quacked at the back door to call them to come....They loved all my Ducks.....Thought they were fantastic.....

I did keep back four.....Lol......I got greedy...I dont know what got into me?...........
Another person contacted me for Ducklings yesterday....I'm not sure if they will contact me back or not?.....

I need to bath the Poopers.....It is so cold here right now though.....I will probably bath them today and put them in front of the register to dry quickly.....Bouncer hates bathes....He cries the whole time....I think I scared him that time I put him in the tub with the Pooper gang....lol...

Bouncer is a Drake, He does not Quack!......He has a raspy voice and he whistles......

Agh I missed so much! Chickens really, congrats on selling those ducklings, looks like they went to good homes! Wow though I never expected that girl to come back again lol. All pictures of your ducks are adorable

. I really love the most recent pic of Bouncer and Yay he is a drake! Now his name doesn't get changed to something weird like Bouncerina. Or maybe Bouncer is a unisex name? Anyways, congrats!

@chickens really I think we can all understand why you put back 4 it's so hard to see them go and they are such pretty babies. I don't blame you at all.

Aww poor lil Bouncer maybe once the Poopers get bigger and they all get in together again he'll begin to like the bath time.

I know they have to go....I will be one of those crazy Cat ladies except I will have Ducks if I don't smarten up!.....lol.........I love them all....They all have personalities and the extra one I held back is a bit more shy and cries lots when it gets scared..........Time for this Momma Duck to really start handling all the Poopers more .......I will bring in a couple at a time for play time.....?.....

Good idea about play time. I wish I had done that more with my last group[Runners and Buffs], last eve I sat out with them and dropped meal worms down at my feet and all but 1 was brave enough to come and get them. Treats can over come fear.

Thanks......I was a bit shocked when a young girl and her Mom were at my door....I must of spoke with the Mother on the phone then?.....anyways, I was confused....lol..........Very persistent !.....

I found this thread yesterday and read it all. Bouncer is such a cutie!

I am hoping that you all can help me. I am relatively new to the duck world (I got my Anconas last year in June). I have 3 drakes and 1 hen at the moment. Last week I found 3 eggs in their pen area. I gathered them and a friend has them in her incubator as we do not know if they were fertilized or not. This morning I found another egg, this time in their house. Should I leave it to see if Sable will sit on it or gather it?
