That's totally normal for a new duckling. They rest for long periods of time, waddle around a little, eat and drink a little. Though pretty soon, you should see him/her zooming around your brooder. He is only one duckling so you may need to provide him a stuffed animal, your company a lot, or another chick or duckling as company. He seems to be alright he gets up and waddles about for a bit and he’s had a little bit of food but he seems to get tired really quickly and then he lays his head down on the ground like it’s too heavy for him to hold
Because of lockdown I will be here all day every day for over a month and I’ve ordered a rubber duck to put in with him, should I put a teddy in as wellThat's totally normal for a new duckling. Doesn't matter what it is. We had the same single duckling situation this year to, and we put a stuffed dalmation dog in with her. She adores it even now as an adult.Because of lockdown I will be here all day every day for over a month and I’ve ordered a rubber duck to put in with him, should I put a teddy in as well

I agree with @Anime2lover . I have had a single duckling before and she had a stuffed animal that she always wanted to be around. Newly hatched ducklings definitely rest for a while.
When should I give them their first bath@ScuniDRasin I’m glad to hear your precious duckling is doing better. Sorry I wasn’t able to respond to you earlier, I got caught up at work. You are doing a good job with it.![]()
In my opinion it would be best to hold off for a while since ducklings do not have the oils that keep their feathers from getting wet. I know some people introduce them to water at an early age so it’s up to you on when. I generally introduce my ducklings to water at around 1 weeks. I only let them swim for a short while because they can get chilled easily. I always supervise them and start off with a small amount of water that they can stand up in.When should I give them their first bath
