Hi! I received welsh harlequin hatching eggs via USPS. All of them have a detached air cells. Today is day eight in the incubator and they’ve been on an automatic turner. I have read on several threads to stop turning them and put them in an egg carton and stand them up with air cell all the way at the top. My question is when should I do that?? How many days should I keep them rotating before I turned them with the air cell up? When I put them on lockdown do I take them out of the egg crates and lay them on their side? Or leave them in the egg crates?

I got them from Metzer, they basically said there’s nothing they can do about it since it happened in delivery. What position should the duckling be in for hatching? Sorry newbie here.

If these are pictures from day 8 I would say they are not going to develop. If those where day 1 did any start to develop?

These are actually ones that never developed, but the air cell in all of them are similar. Out of 10 seven seem to be developing but the air cell is obviously a concern. Here’s day 13. Not great pictures. I assume my light isn’t strong enough? Or are they just that hard to see at this point?

That is awesome they look great ! Please keep us posted on how the hatch goes. I will do the same 😊

Help! I was about to lockdown my babies. Candled them one last time and 3 of them look like this on the “bottom”, the pointy end opposite of the air cell. The rest of them are almost too dark to see on that end. Is this a humidity problem? They are still moving a lot. I’ve had them around 57% humidity because that’s what the instructions from Metzer said. I’ve read in here of lots of people using much lower humidity for ducks. Do I just continue with Metzer’s recommendations and lock down and bump humidity up to 80%!?

Those look perfectly normal to me. That’s how mine usually look before lock down to.
