I have a bantam egg that was 21 days yesterday. This morning around 7 there was chirping and there is a large hole not like the pipping pics I have seen where they are small. I have not heard any chirping for the past few hours. I can see the beak but do not seen the beak moving. Have I already lost my chick? Ive read that they could be sleeping so I am hoping for the best. Any suggestions?

Provided the hygrometer is accurate, it should be higher.
IMHO, it will either hatch or it won't. Some people do assisted hatches but in my experience, one that needs help often doesn't make it anyway.
It is very time consuming to help a bird that isn't strong enough to get out on its own.

It was dead but not dried to the egg, still really moist and all the yolk had been absorbed and no bleeding. Idk what went wrong. It was chirping hours ago and then just stopped.

Thats how big the crack was when it stopped moving and chirping.

There are always many possibilities of any failure but for a fully developed chick that pipped but was dead in shell:

1. Low humidity or temperature for a prolonged period.

2. Low humidity during hatching.

3. High temperature during hatching.

4. Nutritional deficiencies.

5. Breeder diseases.

6. Poor ventilation.

7. Inadequate turning during first 12 days.

8. Injury during transfer.

9. Prolonged egg storage.
