Hatching Eggs for the first time and very anxious!

I hate to hear that. I was so hoping that you would at least get a few. I've never had Australorps, but they are supposed to be a very dependable breed

I love my austrolops. The roo I have is evil but the hens come running every time.
Like you I'm new to the whole hatching this but this is what I found this afternoon when I got home from a second grade field trip with my girl...

700

Pip pip pip... The 2 older ones are showing signs of life!!!!

Now for you experienced hatchets out there. BIG question...
The 2 eggs that are pipping are about a week older than the other 2 eggs. (Result of going out of town for a weekend and leaving the husband to gather eggs.)
Will the momma stay to hatch these other 2 or should I prep the heat lamp sense I can't afford an incubator right now. Also, one egg got rolled by hen after pipping. Is it ok?

If they are a week apart, I would expect her to leave them before they have hatched.

Thanks. I'll let her sit on them until the others are hatched and start to leave the nest. I'll pull them and try to incubate them under a heat lamp. I've got the temp right under the lamp so I'll watch it until things are desperate.

Good luck! Search for a thread that says "help incubator quit on day 26". I think its in the duck section, but she did a great job with makeshift stuff to finish a duck hatch! So it is possible to finish without an incubator! Keep us posted please.
