Hatching Eggs from Miss-Jayne - Mahonri & ChevygirlBeth

Well other than your (Miss_Jayne's) two remaining chicken eggs due on Monday and your 5 remaining duck eggs due the week after that, I'm probably done.

I'll give the remaining eggs another day... till tomorrow at this time, then I'll do eggtopsies and see what they looked like.

I have 11 chicks.

1 Salmon Faverolle... I really didn't think it would make it but it's out. It had splayed leg and curled toes so I put cardboard and tape on one foot and hooked those feathered legs together and it just acts proud as it prounces around the brooder.

2 W/BW Ameraucanas... I'm thinking that I got one roo and one pullet.

8 BBS Ameraucanas.

1 other BBS had pipped but I could tell it had quit moving so I thought I'd intervene but it was already dead.

2 W/BW w/o pips
3 Salmon Favs... I just don't have much luck with those, oh well.
6 BBS Ameraucanas.

Pics tomorrow.

Don't know if these are blues or blacks or a combo?

Is the one on the right a black???

And my little faverolle that I didn't think would make it and still wonder...even though I've seen her drink.

They're awful cute! I'm hoping I have a few chickies hatching today!

My FIL came over last night and he was just in awe that we could hatch eggs ourselves... I suppose he never really thought about it. He thought it was really cool to be able to candle the guinea egg and see the keet in there moving around!

Miss_Jayne, we have a pip on the leghorn!! Who is the daddy?!!!

I'm praying this one makes it... the last of the BBS Ameraucanas that pipped didn't make it. I'm also praying that Jane w/ no last name makes it... that egg is such a beautiful olive color!!

I'm not touching the bator till Monday afternoon other than to add moisture as needed, then I'll candle the ducks.

well, the daddy could be either a:

cochin/brahma or delaware. my guess would be del.

how fun!

i just hatched some of Jane's cousins here for a gentleman whose farm Jane and her sisters came from. they are gorgeous, of course.

blessings over the hatches!

Well I can see the little leghorn X ? beak... it moves around a little then stops. It's only just past day 19 so I'm gonna give it time and hope it makes it.

So Miss_Jayne, I forgot to ask.

It's a nice white egg. Leghorn... but what type of leghorn. White? CA White? Light Brown? Red? Exchequer?.....???

Still pipped, beak still moving. I upped the humidity but I can see it's not moving in the shell. I have to keep reminding myself... Day 20 started at 2PM.

brown, and very cute of course! we have three and they are all very good layers. a little flighty, but not obnoxious or anything. just don't like to be 'snuggled'.
