We are trying to hatch two eggs in an incubator and they are ready to hatch. We thought one of the eggs had passed but when we took it out we heard a scratching o tapping sound and cheeping so we put it back, anyway my daughter thinks it's turned around in the egg. We want to make sure it survives and don't know what to do plus there was a small dark spot on the outside of the shell also.....guess we're paranoid but this is our first time hatching eggs....any help or suggestions would be appreciated ( their due date is Thurs ) :)

I would suggest leaving the eggs completely alone until at least two days after Thursday! That is what will give it the best chance of survival. Don't open the incubator or mess with them at all! Has the other one hatched yet? What makes your daughter think it's turned around in the egg?

She candled the eggs and said the head was at the pointy end. The one we thought we lost has now poked a hole through the shell the other on hasn't broken through yet but they were cheeping and the eggs were rocking last night. They haven't made any progress since last night but it hasn't been 24 hrs yet. Like I said thus is our first time trying to hatch eggs.

Sounds like they're doing just what they should do! Just leave the incubator alone. Opening the lid after they've pipped can cause humidity problems and they could get stuck. I hope you have some sweet little chicks soon!

Thank you.... are we supposed to keep water in the incubator

I originally put the humidity for chicken eggs, not realizing these were ducks! Sorry!
