I'm locking down eggs tonight and two of them are double yolk and still thriving. I've hatched in egg cartons with great success but I was wondering if it would be better to lay the twin eggs on the mesh or should I put them in a carton as well? Never hatched one and am anticipating problems as I've been told they don't usually hatch well of they hatch at all. Any advise?

I think it would be better to lay them on the wire because the second chicks head will not be in the large end of the end like it's supposed to be and if it pips on the small end and it's in the carton it won't get enough air. There is a video on YouTube of a woman helping a double yolker hatch and I think it could be useful to you

xs 2. Malepositioned pips have a less chance in the cartons and with it knowingly being a double that is expected. I would lay it down.

Ok...I just saw these messages and I've already put them I'm cartons. Could I open the bator now and put them on their sides? Mo watched the video...awesome!

nothing happens if you open the incubator, I do it all the time, but one or both chicks will die if you leave them in the carton

Thanks everyone. As soon as I get home I will take both of the twin eggs out of the carton. My plans for Wednesday are to hang over the bator:) I'm so glad there are only 12 eggs in there.

I took the eggs out of the carton and candled them real quick. One egg seems fuller than the other not but eggs are rocking so slightly already!
