Imagine my surprise when I get home to a little yellow chick that hatched. I didn't know Jubilees hatched yellow.

I started freaking out trying to figure out what happened.

I had lots of chicks greeting me in the hatcher!! Another White Legbar! Yeah. I don't think the duck eggs are doing well though. First time trying though.

Yup, I picked up a combined order with blackbirds13 and she had some in there. I was surprised too but they were yellow with the faintest dark brown stripe in the middle of their head and partway down their backs.

I updated the software on my phone and supposedly I can upload pics directly. Here goes my first attempt.

My Bresse chicks are almost 7 wks old now. They went through a few weeks of being skittish, but they are getting really friendly now. Unless there are some really late bloomers, I may only have 2 cockerels out of 10!

Some of the chicks have nice dark legs, but some have only changed to a light grey or willow color. Don't a few of you have older birds that can weigh in on this? Will they still change or will I need to consider culling to breed for correct leg color? :(

It's still drying so I haven't seen the stripe yet.

My guys will be going outside tomorrow and I'll check their legs. It's suppose to be nice and I don't want them in my house any longer.

I know some of my BCM and Amer took months for their legs to completely color up.

Well I have 3 silkies hatched, the ccl/ee is hatching, one sfh is a maybe and 1 died. He tried to pip through the side instead of into the aircell, he cracked the shell, but did not get through the membrane. I am guessing he drowned since he could not pip through the membrane

Interestingly, the ones that I have from them that have the less or more lightly colored legs are the birds that have seemed to be the most strongly afflicted at this point. Not sure if it's a correlation between age or vitality or if there's some other? breeding going on or what?

The Denagard should be delivered today so I'm really praying that they pick up after a course of that. I hate all this waiting! It's driving me up the walls!!!

That is interesting...I'll have to pay attention if I ever have illness in the flock.

Have they improved or worsened or are they just staying the same so far? I am not very familiar with the timing or duration in regards to poultry disease, but it would seem if they had something truly serious that they would be progressively worsening. I haven't researched that at all, but it seems logical. Any idea anyone?

Well the ccl chick did not make it. I could see him breathing and his little beak opening and closing, but he never peeped and seemed weak. I just went to check and he had died. No breathing no movement, nothing.
