Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Quote: My son did a three year project on temps and how they effect the eggs hatch rates and how they can lead to more of one gender hatching over another. Temps DONT dictate gender, but one gender hatches better at a lower temp and one at a higher temp. Will get him to pull his data out for me when he comes in from school.

Is it allowable to add some of our "swaps" to an offer?

For example, I offered $16 PP, and if it doesn't go soon, I don't have anymore to add to it, but I do have 5 swaps left for the week that I can't use 'cause I'm out of money.

Sorry but no. It's hard enough for Walli to keep track of our swaps. That would be just asking way too much of her.

I set ten eggs and ten eggs went to lockdown. Eight eggs hatched, and six of them were boys. If I assume the two unhatched were girls, that still would be at best four girls from ten eggs, which is closer to the expected ratio. I'll check the incubator temps, too, but given that they consistently hatch on the due date, I think my temps are right on.

Looking forward to it. Thanks!

I went outside this morning and my beautiful blrw pullet from Foley (my avatar) was dead

When I open the coop door there was the roo mounting her. It looks like her neck is snapped. There goes my breeding program! I'm so upset I don't even know what to do right now. I did get 3 pullet eggs from her over the last week. I came in and immediately put them in the incubator, I was going to wait for larger eggs. Just a really crappy way to start my day!!!
Oh, I'm so sorry!

I have a young breeding group that Jerry put together for me this fall. The pullets are just starting to give me a few eggs. I haven't put them in a breeding pen yet, but I can let you know when I check fertility if you're interested. I know it doesn't make up for the loss of your pullet, but hatching chicks always makes me feel better.
