I am not 100% but I have noticed that the pullets will have more barring on their wing feathers. Just watch them and put up pics and we can try to help.

Good to know. They don't have any feathering yet since they're just a day or two old at this point but I'll watch for it and post more photos as they come in. Here is one of them. The other photos of the second chick are blurry and I couldn't get a decent one to save my life..I am not 100% but I have noticed that the pullets will have more barring on their wing feathers. WV - Got a Spangled Roo- Found him close to home from the friend of a friend. Liked the color of the ones on featherAuctions more, but when they are close to home, no shipping fee. Plus I already had hens, I really only needed a roo. Thanks for your help in looking!!
What adorable chicks! You'll have to post pics of the polish cross chicks as they grow. I bet they'll be cuties!I always have trouble posting photos! This chick above is one of the SFH I hatched from Papa Brooders eggs. Love the color of this one. This one below is from the Hedemora eggs my daughter gifted me for Christmas! It was the only one that hatched. Good to know. They don't have any feathering yet since they're just a day or two old at this point but I'll watch for it and post more photos as they come in. Here is one of them. The other photos of the second chick are blurry and I couldn't get a decent one to save my life.. The first is the BLRW and the others are of some of the Polish/SFH crosses I hatched for the laying flock, hopefully.. Their mama is a gorgeous bantam silver laced polish and she lays ALL the time! Her pretty white eggs are easy to recognize. She's a sweet girl and one of my favorites.. Esmeralda is her name.. I couldn't resist setting some of her eggs and I'm glad I did.

This last photo is of the sweet CL pullet I hatched from CJ's eggs. Thanks CJ! Her name is Mini because she's so tiny.

Wish the other photos were decent.. lol
Thanks! I was surprised that none of them hatched with vaulted skulls, though they do seem to have crests. We'll see how they grow. The SFH crosses seem to hatch with those brown/peach/orange faces. Even the EE/SFH cross chicks I have growing out have it and they're starting to feather in with some neat patterns. I have no plans to sell any of the crosses. They're just for our own personal flock and will NOT be mixed up with the purebred SFHs whatsoever. They are in their own covered pen and I am very concerned about keeping purity there. In case anyone was wondering.. lolWhat adorable chicks! You'll have to post pics of the polish cross chicks as they grow. I bet they'll be cuties!
I think it can happen in any breed but I believe some are more prone to it. I hear it a lot with silkies as well.I was wondering if someone could give me some insight about split wing? I have heard it talked about on the SFH thread. Is it conmon? Something found in all breeds or something more so in SFH??
