oh and I also brood cooler...two or so weeks inside then into the brooder coop with just a couple 75 watt heat lamps about 3 feet off the floor

That was my thought. They're totally serious though. Here's their facebook response to the bio-security:
...We considered bio-security issues a great deal. We will do a deep clean after each check-out and we will ask our guests to sign a waiver. While bio security is a huge deal in large flocks, it is somewhat rare in backyard flocks. This is why we say the best option is to get a neighbor to watch your girls.

... The store's hens have their own separate run. In addition each hotel suite has a dedicated run so there will be no flock intermingling. By doing a thorough cleaning after each check-out we hope to mitigate potential bio security issues.

I think cooler brooding makes them feather out just a bit faster too, could be my imagination........

I know the Ecoglow makes them feather faster! I'm trying fermented grower with this batch of chicks and quail to see how it works.
