Yep, they usually have them at dollar stores. You can make one if you have a really good sealing ziploc bag. I just fill it partially with water and wrap it around a stick thermometer, then tape it so it doesn't move. You just need to be sure the tip of thermometer is surrounded by water. Test your bag to be sure it doesn't leak before you put it in the bator!

Maybe I'm slow, but what is a water wiggler?

Ok so I used two quart sized ziplocks and put my new thermometer in between like a sandwich. There is water totally surrounding it, I don't have a glass one but this seems to be working. Hopefully In a few hours I get a result I am happier with.

ProfTi....you have eggs headed your way....and so do you Betta, hope you are ready! I didn't send you the little egg, so I put in one of the crosses. I will hatch the little one myself.

Profti and all others who have gotten BS eggs from me...I found this interesting tidbit of info on Porter Turkeys website explaining breeding Blue Slate to Blue Slate, which is what I did:

Just want to make an important note here that most of the information found on some of the more popular websites on the results of breeding blue turkeys is inaccurate, the following is the correct results .

When breeding Slate to Slate, the results are turkeys of three different colors, Slate,Self Blue and Black.
When breeding Self Blue to Self Blue, only Self Blues result.
When breeding Self Blue to Black, only slates result.
When breeding Slate to Black both slates and blacks result, with no self blues.

Just so y'all know, you may not get just a Blue Slate.

Got home and it looks like one chick didn't make it. It was a packing peanut but still, it was a nice one.

If anyone is interested in 2 black breda chicks that's one herducks route, let me know. I have 2 I have no need for.

GUESS WHAT!?! I got my first Pilgrim goose egg today!!!! This is from my youngest pair and it is the first egg ever from my goose in that pen. :D

My hatcher will officially be off at 8pm tonight when I take the remaining chicks out to deliver to their new momma. Unfortunately the styrofoam bator will be coming on to hatch eggs for someone else.
