Well some days just stink - Literally - Was candeling eggs a little while ago and had one explode on me and all over the kitchen. Even after cleaning up, I smell like a cross between my daddy's catfish bait and a week old dead skunk.
All of the Choc. orp. eggs stopped development and have a blood ring and half the SFH I had just stopped.
At noon my crazy neighbor called me at school and said I had a chicken in her yard and I needed to come home IMMEDIATELY and the cops were on the way. The principal had to find me a sub long enough for me to come home and put up the chicken. When I got here my Australorp rooster was at the barn walking the fence trying to get back to his hens. Funny part is the fence is 6-8 feet high and his wings are clipped so he can't fly. The only way he could get out is if someone opened the gate. I text her and told her he was up and I needed to get back to work. She told me I needed to check my gate as she thought he could squeeze through. (a whole 3 inches) and the gate is on MY property and the only way she would know is if she came over and looked.
Sorry, just needed to rant.....
Chain. Padlock. Motion sensors with stop photography are good, too.
If misery loves company, I'll share, just to cheer you up kinda? Just put Mar. 10 eggs in lockdown, fumbled an Olandsk dwarf egg that was doing beautifully. The inside membrane didn't tear although the shell is pretty banged up and missing a few big chunks, so I tucked it in to the hatcher anyway but won't be surprised if the shock killed it :-(
In happier news, although neither of my GLB/BLB eggs made it, I now have the cutest little black and white SFH chick from TNBEARCHICK, and two lovely little silkies -- buff? Or are they white?
I'll get pics tomorrow. I'm going on 25 hours without sleep, I need to crash! Cya all tomorrow!
