Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Okay, CelticOaks. I have a question for you. I have 2 geese pipping at the wrong end of the egg. Should I risk opening the hatcher to help them or wait to see how things go?

Never mind. I found that you posted on another thread about some ducks that did this and grew into perfectly healthy adults. I'll just keep an eye on them for now.

So far I have six out and one zipping of the Cuckoo/Blue Cuckoo Marans from DMRippy. I can't see if any are pipped or not. But three of them are BLUE! Yippee!

I ended up leaving the button quail in the hatcher drawer of the cabinet so they didn't get stomped by the bigger chicks. I know hatching is happening, but the dang thing has a solid door, so I can't do much checking. Hubby donated his coffee grinder, which we spent about an hour making sure it didn't have even a speck of coffee in, so I could use it to grind up the gamebird food I had gotten. That stuff was waaaaayyyyyy to big for these guys.

And, although they aren't really due until tomorrow, I saw at least one pip on my much awaited BBS English Orps. Woohoo!!!!

I am happy today!

Here you are. MY MIXED TURKEYS! They are soooo cute.

400

Any guesses as to what breeds they may look like?

One piped but died in the shell, so five it is.

Morning all......................Michelle sorry he is being a jerk, glad you have other options though (your bank) since he (seller) obviously is out of his mind.

Well the LLO's are missing, gone,MIA and its now Saturday. I feel sick knowing they stuck in a box with nothing with them. The jerk at the PO made Gable remove the apples from the box so they are stuck with nothing to eat at all. The jerk at the PO didnt hold onto the box either and it fell while he was checking it in and caused us to loose a hen before they ever shipped. Poor Gable had to take her out of the box and to a vet to be put down (broken leg in 2 spots from the fall). I hate to think about it, but it is looking like we will be getting a box of dead adult birds when ever the box finally arrives.

on a better note.....2weeks later and I "think" I am finally getting over this crud.
That is terrible! I can't imagine watching someone drop a box of birds hard enough to injure one bad enough that it needed to be killed. I would have been afraid to leave the birds there!
We are going to (hopefully) finish our new coop today! (I am trying to be excited about it). it will be great to get the older chicks we have in the house out. They are starting to really NEED to be outside (pooping machines)

it is going to be a gorgeous day! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!

And I gave the eggs CPL and BM6 sent via Herducks' chicken train to 4 broodies to hatch and they should start hatching today!
How did the MFL do for you?

Quote: I used Frontline for dogs (1-2 drops per bird under the wings). Make sure it gets on the skin. I haven't seen a mite since, and I didn't lose any from the treatment.
I just wanted to make sure you all know I met Herducks up at Snap-n-zap's and I had no chickens or eggs to send. (I did send a couple of pysanky, but they are washed and dyed with a vinegar bath and then lacquered so they are pretty darn safe)

So all I did was travel up there and then come back with a box of chicks. None of the chicken train birds were exposed to my birds.

Herducks never came to my property at all.

I didn't want anyone to be nervous about the MG thing.

Now that I know who the seller is that sold the Chocolate Bantam Orpingtons to Michelle I will tell everyone what happened to me with the same seller. I purchase pre-sale Cream Legbar eggs through Ebay. When one hen started laying, the seller contacted the people who purchased the pre-sale eggs and said he was ready to ship. He stated that only one hen was laying, the eggs were pullet sized, and he had not confirmed fertility. I told him based on the information I would prefer to wait until more hens were laying and fertility had been confirmed. He replied that would be fine but I would be put out another 8 weeks or so. I received an email which I guess all the pre-sale people got shortly thereafter offering a great deal where he would hatch the eggs for an additional sum and express shipping charges and everyone would get a trio that wished to convert and pay the additional cost. I felt the charges were overstated so declined the offer and said I would wait for eggs. When the eight weeks had passed, I contacted him and asked where he was with my eggs. He replied back it just happened that he could ship right away but he felt I should upgrade to express shipping which once again was overstated in price. I declined and said mail them priority since I generally get shipments from Texas in two days.

I received confirmation that the eggs were accepted at his local post office and eight days later the eggs had not moved. I emailed him and of course he said well priority mail is not guaranteed but if I would have upgraded to express then it would have been. I emailed back saying I was going to open a search with the post office and shortly thereafter got another email from him saying the eggs had been found and were on their way. I got the eggs two days later. He did offer me a "deal" if I wanted to give him more money for a trio. I declined as I thought that maybe it was the post office that messed up. The eggs were packed nicely and all arrived unbroken but of course none developed.

Well, then he had some Rhodebar eggs on a Ebay auction and I thought I would give him another try as surely the first time was just a fluke and his feedback was good for the few he had. I did not win the auction but got a second chance offer from him. via email not through Ebay. Again he made the insistence on upgrading to express shipping which I declined. Then he couldn't ship the eggs because one of the hens got sick but he could ship me Cream Legbar eggs. I said no I would wait until the Rhodebars started laying again. Within a couple of days, the Rhodebars were suddenly laying again and the eggs were shipped. These eggs were bubble wrapped and tossed in a box. with no additional packing so they freely tossed about the box. Two eggs were smashed and the other four had floating air cells. Since I got the previous eggs which were packed very nicely, I got the message loud and clear since I did not want to give him the additional express shipping money or take the offered Legbar eggs then he purposely just tossed the eggs in a box in hopes of them getting broken or non-hatch-able. He also knew I could not leave feedback on Ebay because his offer was through email. I did not contact him about the Rhodebar eggs as I knew how he would react. I just made a mental note not to do business with him again. I could have filed through paypal but once again he would have just said I state I am not responsible for what the post office does with the package.

I could not leave feedback on the Rhodebar eggs since he made me the offer outside of Ebay. I did not leave feedback on the Legbar eggs either as all outward appearances the fault was with the post office. Of course I don't know if he or someone he knows works at the local post office , maybe that first package was purposely set aside for days until I said I would start a search. This person is very sneaky and is certainly someone to avoid. I guess as long as everything is going fine and you go along with what he wants then everything goes smooth thus his good feedback. He uses the same name under Ebay for those of you that are wondering.

Anyway, sorry Michelle for your problem with him . Once I knew who you were dealing with, the comment about killing the birds all fit into my own dealings with the !!!!###???? . Good luck.

CelticOak - So glad that you got the LLO and they are okay. Beautiful birds.
