I heard raspberries & blackberries have to be planted very far apart...hundred of yards apart if I remember correctly. Has anyone else ever heard of this? I was thinking of planting some too.

what was the reasoning? we have them growing wild around here and they grow right next to each other.

I gave it a like.

Got my last big batch of starts in the mail today. Ton of Raspberries, 2 peach trees, walnut tree, blueberries, and black berries. In a couple years I will have so much fruit and nuts I won't know what to do with it all! Not a good day for it to come, since I am sick, but maybe working through it will feel better.

I would love raspberries and black berries but neither do well down here. Blueberries have special needs and limited varieties. We can only grow three types of apple and I think 1 or 2 types of peach actually fruit here as well.

Everyone has their regional food that other places can't touch. Why can't I go to one place and get good jambalaya, pastrami grinder and key lime pie? LOL

I haven't heard about the proximity issue, but I don't believe raspberries grow and produce well in our area. Blackberries do great here!

The varieties I picked out are ones that do ok in the heat. I dont know what zone you are, but I am in zone 9a - and I can plant one zone down an still do pretty well.
you can plant highbush blueberries, since they go wild in fl. Some varieties to look for; "abundance" and "blue crisp"

Raspberries can be planted near each other, they need space, they like to spread, but I plant them on the edge of our woods so they grow like a hedge around the yard. I planted heritage and Durham. I just don't expect huge yields. I ordered Elberta and red haven peaches after researching and talking to some locals.

Can I put sheep in with my horses or do they need to be separate? I have 2 horses and 2 minis

Usually that will work okay, but some horses hate sheep and will attack them. They are dead-end hosts for each others parasites, so keeping them together will help reduce the parasite load on the land. On the other hand, you'll need to rotate the sheep, or they'll eat the pasture down to nothing.
