I would like for COF to just send me another swan box so I can ship myself down there. Their pool is open and she just made Chocolate cake with PB icing.

I could be fat and cool all at the same time!

If you can fit in a swan box, then there is no way that one cake will make you fat.

bantam OEG mine! err... now yours!
Hee...heee. Now I know....still working on my code list!
"Make" is such a forceful word. I think it would be neat if the swapper offered PP if they're eggs aren't ready when they're "due". Like, totally fictional here: say I claimed eggs in December, with the swap date of February. I check back in in Feb and the swapper says "such-and-such happened and my hens aren't laying right now, would you like to remain on my list or would you prefer $PP?" Then the swappee has the opportunity to choose to continue to wait. If I - as the swappee - have to say, "well, I want $PP then, since you can't send your eggs like you said you could" It sounds negative and accusatory. I would think the swapper would actually be relieved to be able to knock someone off their waiting list. Just my opinion

I agree. Some us, like profti for example, are brand new at predicting when, how many and how long our birds will lay. Its my first year with turkeys and I have quickly realized it is not nearly as predictable and reliable as my swapping habit needs to be. Other people who owe me eggs lose birds or sell flocks snd I keep in my mind that their live animals are unpreditable too. I have been trying to offer pp for my outstanding eggd, but I keep fighting with myself everytime my girls change their mind. I guess I thought everyone would also offer an alternative or, if necessary, the pp equivalent?
This is why I am so picky about what I claim. I am offering eggs I'd get between $50-80 per dozen. I don't mind trading, I don't. But yes, people need to understand that in the end that those of us offering expensive eggs are losing our butts (and many of you have very, very expensive eggs). I am very thankful that I got CPL's Tolbunts, btw. She was very gracious and even sent me just Tolbunts even though I claimed a mixed egg swap. Those were one of those breeds that are 'way to expensive for me to buy'!
I, fot one, absolutly appreciate snd feel extremely lucky that I can get birds I would never be able to afford in a million years. And in exchange for vinegar, no less. It has been about the coolest thing ever. But I also feel it is my obligation to understand that you guyd are business people first and foremost and sometimes, however frustrating, you have to support yourself instead of pay for jam and shipping. I have been frustrated with myself continually because of external limitationd that cannot be overcome. I owe everyone and their brother plant starts. Who could have predictef it would still be snowing here? I don't remember that ever happening. Yes, I stopped offering them, but I still am overdue by about a month. Like you all with eggs, I am offerings way cheaper than you buy them but wr still have environmental limitations. Not to mention it all has been a huge learning curve all around and learnibg to keep it all orgsnized and togethet is very, very hard for alot of us....with your help, I am learning and growing. I guess what I love about the swap is that, for the most part, almost everyone is kind, compassionate, honest and patient. This is a really neat opportunity. Like all things with people, it is not always equal anf fair. Look at how many people get screwed by buying? More thsn I have ever heard get screwed by swapping. I am rambling, but the good news is that this is a fairly good place to be and sometimes you need help remembering or struggle for whatever reasons. I agree that a pm is a great start and if that doesn't work, the moderators do a great job. Either way, however, it is a risk. Btw...I owe 2 of you pms about this. I am not ignoring you, just on my phone and I to check out my records to answer your questions.

I feel the same way with the swapping. I am on a limited chicken budget, so being able to get the really nice birds through swapping is great and makes chickens available that we don't even have in our area available!

I think this makes it a wonderful thing!! I appreciate everyone making the rarer birds available to us other chicken addicts... I mean chicken lovers.. crap, I mean chicken people!

I can do that ya know...........I have three in the garage.

OK, those saying me me, I want chicks in place of eggs. You MUST PM me.................be aware if you claim 6 eggs you dont get 6 chicks. Shipped eggs arent a guarantee and few and far between 100% hatches so I dont do even steven when going from eggs claimed to me hatching and sending. ALSO, if you ask for them to be hatched YOU pay the shipping not me.

Only when my original offer on the swap is for live chicks do I pay the shipping. (thought that may need cleared up)

Ok, 7 boxes of eggs and 4 boxes of birds and a bundle of 3 shipping boxes ALL GONE, OUTTA HERE, SHIPPED!!! Nice way to spend the mid day, CCL and Bresse and goslings walking around my laundry room.

I have eggs from the old swap still due, but I don't worry too much about it. At least with them being spaced out, it's giving me time to do cages and such and not totally overwhelm the bators with double stacking. Plus, I have three soap/candle orders to go out and my inventory is rather dry at the moment. After the one, I'm done for awhile, because I have sales and a store inventory to keep full! But, it has been fun. Maybe once all my dues are sent and received, I'll pop back in to see what else I can nab.

I feel the same way. I soooo appreciate being able to get eggs for breeds I could never afford. All the people I have met and talked to through this thread have been so nice and share my love of the birds.
