Well, I had a surprise visitor last night...my brother in law from overseas just appeared at my door. My mom failed to relay the message he was coming and I just stood there with my mouth hanging open like an idiot. The house was a wreck. I hadn't cleaned in 2 weeks because I've been spending every second building the new coop. (34) 5-week chickens in my dining room, 3 escapees I was chasing around like a crazy person. no clean sheets for the guest bed. he left before I woke up...went to meet the renters of their house. Oy vey. my Sister keeps a PRISTINE house. I am so embarrassed.

But on a good note, I have learned to use the autocorrect to help me with my missing letters... and copy/paste. takes a while, though.

Oh I feel your pain! My hubby got home yesterday and of course trashed the house. He is a man sized tornado! After he leaves it takes me almost a week to clean up again, find all the tea cups, and clean up his messes. Pure and simple he is a pig! Of course his family will come visit while he's here. Then they make all these comments about helping me clean. I could just crawl in a corner I'm so embarrassed.

When my older son moved home after getting out of the military my hubbies slovenly ways drove him NUTS. He didn't grow up that way and just about flipped out, but held his tongue for my sake. It drives me crazy and it would really help my hubbies ADHD if he were more organized, but first he needs to realize that. In the meantime I cringe every time he invites someone over.

Has your husband ever tried medication for ADHD? I am not much a of medication person, in general, but when I started working as a therapist I realized that my coping skills just couldn't overcome some of the obstacles I faced. Honestly, having to interrupt a client in the middle of tramaua to say, "I am sorry, what did you just say, I was watching that really cool squirrel and thinking about chickens". That was not my best clinical skill! Beginning medication was really life changing and now I am ABLE to do some of the things I need to, it is still hard but it is a remarkable difference. Also I have some good books I bought for my partner on living with someone with ADHD that really, really helped our relationship. I would be happy to send them for you to read if you are interested.

Ok....so I am thinking about taking some of my random left over chicks to an animal swap. When it says that testing is required and can be done for a small fee, that basically means I have to pay to get my chicks tested to sell them. Is this correct? But, when it says they need leg bands, is this something they get when they are tested? Or do I have to band them? What is the purpose of it? Thanks!!!

I have never fixed my turner and only turn them once a day and have had GREAT hatches.  My turner would turn them 6 times a day and I can't see any difference in my hatch rates really.

In all honesty, I've seen shared duck nests where the eggs were 4 deep and never "tampered" with by the moms. They never seemed to have a problem hatching out all of their eggs.

I'm weird. I'm bi-polar, but have something like OCD. So, depending on how I feel, the house is either ground zero disaster or pristine. Thankfully, G has been the best for me. He helps keep it clean when I'm being lazy. Of course, our house can be cleaned and by the end of the day, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months. Dust builds up to the point that you can move something and see where it was two days after dusting. :/ Once there are no more birds in the house, I'm sure it'll get better though.

It should depend on the age of the chick. Here chicks older then 12 weeks must be tested. Anything younger it is not required for swaps.
